  • Wichita parks and recreation chief to address Pachyderms

    This Friday the Wichita Pachyderm Club features as its program Doug Kupper, who is Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Wichita.

    All are welcome to attend Pachyderm club meetings. The program costs $10, which includes a delicious buffet lunch including salad, soup, two main dishes, and ice tea and coffee. The meeting starts at noon, although it’s recommended to arrive fifteen minutes early to get your lunch before the program starts.

  • Wichita Pachyderm Club speakers scheduled

    The Wichita Pachyderm Club has announced its list of speakers for the next month or so. The speakers include political candidates, government officials, and businessmen.

    Everyone is welcome to attend Wichita Pachyderm Club meetings. The meetings are Fridays at noon, although it is best to arrive perhaps 15 minutes early to get your lunch from the buffet before the program starts. The location is the Wichita Petroleum Club, on the ninth floor of the Bank of America Building at 100 N.     Friday June 11. Smith is President of WeatherData, a company that provides weather-related services to business. His topic will be “An Atmospheric Scientist Looks at Global Warming.”

    Vicki Pratt Gerbino
    Friday June 18. Gerbino is President of the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition, which works for economic development in Wichita and the surrounding area.

    Sandy Praeger
    Friday June 25. Praeger is the Kansas Insurance Commissioner and a candidate for re-election to that office.

    Colby Sandlian
    Friday July 2. Sandlian has been involved in commercial real estate since 1951.

    Walt Chappell
    Friday July 9. Chappell is a member of the Kansas State Board of Education. His district covers Wichita and the immediately surrounding area.

  • Schodorf to address Pachyderms

    This Friday Kansas Senator Jean Schodorf will address members and guests of the Wichita Pachyderm club. Schodorf is also a candidate for the Republican Party nomination for United States Congress from the fourth district of Kansas, along with Jim Anderson, Mike Pompeo, and Wink Hartman. Raj Goyle and Robert Tillman are candidates for the Democratic Party nomination.

  • Limits of government and rights of people to be addressed in Wichita

    This Friday (May 7) Sarah McIntosh will address members and guests of the Wichita Pachyderm Club. Ms. McIntosh’s presentation, titled “Make No Law,” will discuss the constitutional powers and limits of the federal government, versus the rights of the people, with a particular focus on the interaction of rights and powers in the health care law and the upcoming right to bear arms Supreme Court case.

  • Sedgwick County Commission Chair to speak

    On Friday April 30, Karl Peterjohn will address members and guests of the Wichita Pachyderm Club. Peterjohn is the chair of the Sedgwick County Commission. His topic will be “A view from the county commission.”

  • Kansas Secretary of State candidate to speak in Wichita

    This Friday Kris Kobach will address members and guests of the Wichita Pachyderm Club. Kobach is a law professor at University of Missouri Kansas City, former chair of the Kansas Republican party, and a past candidate for the United States Congress. He currently is a candidate for the Republican party nomination for Kansas Secretary of State.

  • Situation in Iraq to be topic of talk

    On Friday April 16 at the Wichita Pachyderm Club, Rodger Woods of Wichita will speak to members and guests. Woods recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, and will be speaking on the topic “Thoughts on the changes in Iraq.”

  • Kansas House candidate to address Pachyderms

    On Friday April 2 at the Wichita Pachyderm Club, Eric Payne will address members and guests. Payne is a candidate for the Republican Party nomination for the Kansas House of Representatives for the 87th district. This district in east and southeast Wichita is currently represented by Raj Goyle. Joseph Scapa, another candidate for this position, will speak to the same group on April 30.

    On Friday March 26 at the Wichita Pachyderm Club, Wichita State University College Republicans Stacy Goss, Brandon Rudkin, and Craig Allen Harms will present a panel discussion, “Future of the Republican Party: The College Republicans.” This should be an interesting perspective from college Republicans.
