Perhaps the greatest Wichita Eagle opinion line ever

“It is a popular delusion that the government wastes vast amounts of money through inefficiency and sloth. Enormous effort and elaborate planning are required to waste this much money.”

This appeared in the Wichita Eagle on March 13, 2009. Originally, it appeared in Parliament of Whores: A Lone Humorist Attempts to Explain the Entire U.S. Government, a book written by the very funny P.J. O’Rourke.

  • Whenever government mispends taxpayers money, the news media reminds us that their intentions were good. That intellectual break is never provided to private sector firms unless they happen to own a printing press.

  • I was at Dillions going to my vehicle with just one small bag. I saw a young girl push her empty cart into a space near the store. The mother was sitting in the car waiting and I said to her if she could not manage to return the cart to spaces allotted. The mother rolled down the window cursing at me. Do we wonder what is wrong with the children of today?

  • Socialism has killed more people across the globe than covid 19 ever thought of doing. Just remover that when you go to the polls in November!!!!!
