Airport traffic statistics, 2020

on

Airport traffic data presented in an interactive visualization, updated through 2020.

This visualization holds data from TranStats, a service of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), which is the independent statistical agency within the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). While monthly data is available, this visualization holds annual totals.

The response to the pandemic severely affected airline traffic. A nearby table presents data for Wichita and the sum of all U.S. airports. The count of departures, passengers, and seats declined, with Wichita seeing less decline than the nation. (In this data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the number of passengers is the number of enplaned passengers, not total passengers.)

The nearby examples show data starting in 2000 for the nation and Wichita. The visualization holds data for all U.S. airports with scheduled flights.
